๐‘บ๐’–๐’Ž๐’Ž๐’‚๐’“๐’š:

The Ministry of Interior has reiterated the obligation of owners and operators of covered establishments to comply with the requirements of Law No. 61 of 2015 concerning the Regulation and Installation of Security Cameras and Surveillance Devices.

The Ministry emphasized that the law requires designated establishments to install and maintain security camera and surveillance systems to enhance public safety, prevent crime, and support law enforcement efforts.

๐‘ฒ๐’†๐’š ๐‘ช๐’๐’Ž๐’‘๐’๐’Š๐’‚๐’๐’„๐’† ๐‘น๐’†๐’’๐’–๐’Š๐’“๐’†๐’Ž๐’†๐’๐’•๐’”:

  1. Mandatory Installation of Security Cameras:

Owners and responsible managers of certain establishments are required to install security cameras and surveillance devices and ensure their continuous operation.

The covered establishments include, among others:ย 

Hotels and hotel apartments; Commercial complexes and shopping centres; Cooperative societies; Residential compounds; Banks and financial institutions; Sports and cultural clubs; Gold and jewelry shops; Hospitals and clinics; Fuel stations; Places of worship; Industrial areas; Marine facilities; Warehouses and storage facilities containing valuable or hazardous materials.

The Ministry may also identify additional establishments subject to these requirements.ย 

  1. Retention and Protection of CCTV Recordings:

Establishments subject to the law must:

  • Retain CCTV recordings for a period of 120 days;
  • Ensure that recordings are not altered, deleted, or tampered with;
  • Maintain the security camera systems regularly and update them when required.ย 

๐‘ฌ๐’‡๐’‡๐’†๐’„๐’•๐’Š๐’—๐’† ๐‘ซ๐’‚๐’•๐’†:

The compliance requirements are governed by Law No. 61 of 2015, while the recent Ministry of Interior announcement serves as a reminder for establishments to comply with their existing obligations.ย
